ABOUT

Layla Flowers

Hi there, I am Layla Flowers. I am a working creative focused on creating and emphasizing unique identities for artists and brands. As a multidisciplinary creative with a robust personal practice, I am able to leverage my skills in original art, original creative writing, and copywriting to create impactful intrigue in applied design.

My work intends to create a sense of welcome surprise that allows the viewer to push past surface impressions to the messaging and identities forged by associations. The connotations and denotations of words in combination can reveal new truths. A cocktail cut into a circle can become a new planetary body. A font with visible nib streaks can convey a bespoke quality and air of effortlessness. Design is all about revealing to the viewer that which you want them to know via that which they already know. This makes design a larger concept than artistry alone— it is the task of a critical thinker, a problem solver, a member of humanity. I aim to encompass these epithets, and be an effective storyteller regardless of medium.

I am a glorifier, not very high up on the vocational chart, and I glorify everything I can see, everything I can think of
— excerpt from "Glory" a poem by Mary Ruefle
